Student, Regional Youth Climate Assembly
Curtis Yip is a youth social and political communicator. He currently represents young people as Deputy Member of Youth Parliament, the Regional Youth Climate Assembly and is the youngest commissioner on the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission.
His work has an intersectional focus on democratic processes and green, devolved opportunities. As he represents young people on all local, regional and national scales, he collaborates with northern policy think tanks, devolved governments and academics – to make climate education and green skills more accessible to young people. His activism has benefited young people greatly; with the South Yorkshire Youth Combined Authority, he successfully campaigned for concessionary travel pass fares in his region – making the area one of the cheapest places in the UK for young people to use public transport.
Curtis has spoken around climate action on global platforms such as TedX and COP26 and is a dedicated young volunteer for his community.
