Sri Hollema

Sri Hollema is the Founder and Managing Director of Mat Zero, the company behind the zero carbon technology to deliver life-sustaining heating in refugee camps and disaster relief. Mat Zero had its genesis in Sri’s Product Design & Technology BSc at Loughborough University, where she dedicated her final year project to designing this breakthrough product.

Having grown up in developing countries, Sri has a strong passion and commitment to design, develop, and deliver products which directly benefit vulnerable communities. She therefore conducted extensive research with NGOs working with refugees and internationally displaced people. Reflecting the research findings, she produced the physical prototype of Mat Zero to not only meet refugees’ acute need for heating, but also to enable NGOs to provide that heating at lower cost and to eliminate the carbon intensive, and often unsafe, oil, gas or firewood fuels currently used.

Sri took the product from concept to physical prototype and then showcased the Mat Zero at public events. After showcasing at the GreenGrads event in late-2022, Mat Zero captured the attention of a group of Smart Energy business leaders. With their help, in Q2 2023 Mat Zero Heat Ltd conducted a successful fundraising, assembled a world class team of directors and investors, and is now focused on bringing Mat Zero to market to deliver safer, better, greener heating the 6.3 million refugee households worldwide who need it.
